President’s Message
Society for Design and Process Science (SDPS) was established 25 years ago, inspired by a few visionaries including George Kozmetsky, Herbert A. Simon, Lotfi A. Zadeh, C. V. Ramamoorthy, and Raymond T. Yeh. The founding members and the first generation leaders are constituted by George Kozmetsky, C. V. Ramamoorthy, Raymond T. Yeh, Murat Tanik, Atila Artas, Bernd Krämer and Stan Gatchel.
In the inaugural keynote speech in 1995, George Kozmetsky stated:
“Many of you have recognized the feasibility that now is the time to start a new professional society to foster, to identify and to extend a core of science that deals with design and processes across a broad spectrum of human, technological and economic endeavors.”
SDPS is a family that aims to nurture the growth of the design and process science, which intends to provide the fundamentals for a universal phenomenon: change. The first generation leaders have drawn the paths, laid the foundation and created the value and the culture for this emerging science.
The SDPS family nurtures the pioneering efforts by training and promoting the “next generation leaders”, encouraging transdisciplinary collaborations, publishing highly explorative research articles that goes across the boundaries among natural science, social science, humanity science, and engineering science.
We whole-heartedly welcome everyone to join us in this new revolution of science.
