Dr. Hartmut Ehrig was full professor of Theoretical Computer Science/Formal Specification at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Hartmut Ehrig passed away on March 17, 2016, at the age of 71. The SDPS community is deeply affected by the loss of an outstanding scientist and esteemed colleague.

Hartmut was a fellow of SDPS and Program Chair of the SDPS conference held 2002 in Dallas. His scientific career was closely related to the TU Berlin. In 1976, he was appointed Professor of Theoretical Computer Science / Formal Specification and developed his institute into an internationally leading school in the fields of algebraic specification and graph transformations. SDPS will always keep an honorable memory of Hartmut.
